Whether you’ve had a lumpectomy, mastectomy, or reconstruction, we have over 25 years of experience fitting prostheses and helping women of all ages regain their self-confidence and self-image with the perfect bra. Our caring staff will assist you with sensitivity and discretion.
“One of the most rewarding parts of being a bra fitter is fitting a breast prosthesis. What never ceases to amaze all of the Bare Basics staff members is the positive attitude women have and how appreciative they are when we find the perfect fit. We’ve all had more than one kiss after the fitting!” says Sandy Hosein, Owner of Bare Basics.
Our Steveston store offers the most up-to-date mastectomy bras and prostheses from well-known companies like Trulife, Amoena, Anita, and Jodee. Another benefit of visiting a lingerie shop for your post-surgical needs is our ability to fit you in a regular bra, and our selection is amazing!
We also carry a variety of bras for clients undergoing reduction surgery.
In British Columbia, we have Fair Pharmacare. You can check payment eligibility for your prosthesis and mastectomy bras by contacting them at www.hibc.gov.bc.ca, or you can contact Medical Services Plan by phone at 604-683-7151 or toll free at 1-800-663-7100, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. If you have private insurance, you must first submit to Pharmacare and then to your provider. Most private insurance companies cover a new prosthesis and two bras every two years, however each plan is different, so check with your insurance provider about their coverage for surgical bras and breast prostheses.
Fitting a prosthesis can take a little time, so we suggest you call our Steveston store to make an appointment: 604-271-5330.
